On Saturday June 12, at 7:30 p.m., Santa Clarita Valley Station desk personnel received a frantic 911 call from a citizen who informed them a 4-year-old boy had been ferociously attacked by a pit bull dog and there were severe bites to the rear scalp area of the boy’s head.
Deputies responded Code-3 to the 29000 block of Costa Brava “The Village” apartments in Newhall and arrived in tandem with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. When deputies arrived, they located the dog while the fire department treated the boy.
The owner was cooperative and turned the dog over without question. Animal Control responded within 30 minutes and picked up the dog.
The four-year-old boy suffered severe trauma to the back base of his skull. The boy was transported to Henry Mayo Newhwall Memorial Hospital for treatment. The trauma was so severe that the young boy was airlifted to Childrens Hospital, Los Angeles at 9:00 p.m.
