A Newhall man is recovering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound he received Friday morning near his Valle del Oro residence.
Shortly after midnight Thursday, the 22-year victim was walking with a friend in the apartment complex when they encountered another man, who shot him in the lower back. The suspect, described as a male Hispanic, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 160 pounds.
Deputies initiated a crime broadcast and scouted the area for the suspect, but he was not located. COBRA detectives are investigating to see if the incident is gang-related. The victim was transported to a local hospital and he is expected to recover fully. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the station’s COBRA unit at 255-1121.
