One child sustained minor injuries during a fire that destroyed one mobile home in Newhall late Thursday morning.

It took firefighters from Station 73 only 12 minutes to knock down the flames that engulfed Unit 7 at the mobile home park next door to the fire station in the 24800 block of Railroad Avenue.

The call came in at 11:18 a.m. Firefighters arrived on scene within two minutes and the fire was extinguished at 11:32 a.m., said Stephanie English, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

A 6-year-old boy – who was not inside the mobile home – is being treated for minor injuries at a local hospital, officials said.  The nature of his injuries could not be confirmed.

No one was home when the fire broke out.  The flames did not spread to any other homes in the park.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
