Newhall Re-Striping Nearing Completion

Portion of San Fernando Road to be renamed "Main Street"

The downtown Newhall re-striping and signal improvement project is nearing completion, with roadblocks appearing on San Fernando Road and Lyons Avenue in Newhall.

As the first major capital improvement to help revitalize Newhall is coming to an end, City residents and motorists are beginning to get used to the new traffic patterns throughout the area.

Railroad Avenue has expanded from two lanes to four and San Fernando Road has gone from four lanes to two, allowing for angled parking in front of shops. Additionally, stop sign will be added on every intersection along San Fernando Road, to limit and slow traffic traveling through the redeveloping business district.
[view:node_ad=5]Newhall drivers heading east on Lyons Avenue must now turn left on Railroad if they want to head north to Canyon Country, Saugus, and Valencia as the section of San Fernando Road through Downtown Newhall now ends at Lyons Avenue.

In the next two weeks the project will be wrapped up by the striping of reverse-in, head-out angled parking along what will soon be renamed "Main Street," that is the portion of San Fernando Road between Lyons Avenue and 5th Street.

The City appreciates motorists taking extra care while engineers and  contractors work to fine tune signal timing and signing/striping locations throughout the project area.  When all is complete, the new Main street of Downtown Newhall will be a much calmer two lane roadway (reduced from four) with stop signs at every intersection and much more parking with the new angled configuration.
The City apologizes for any inconvenience and requests the public's patience as the work is being completed.
