“We’re thrilled that it’s finally opened, and are very excited for the opportunity to make an impact in the community. We’re very grateful for that.” said Head Pastor Rusty George
This 23,600-square-foot community center took about a year to complete and took the place in what was supposed to be a grocery store. The first service was held May 5, and more than 500 people were in attendance.
“Savia is a community partnership and a physical manifestation of a vision to be a church that is irresistible to help people follow God. It helps people with real life issues to work with the Real Life Church to find hope and help,” said Director of Communications Mark Mears
Savia officials offer church in English and Spanish on Sundays.
There also offices for local nonprofit organizations, including A Light of Hope, Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita and Single Mother’s Outreach.
“The original vision was to be a hub where people could find help. Someone could walk in here and have several types of needs.” said Executive Pastor, Fred Gray “It’s a one stop shop, they can get help and get healing. This is huge and amazing. It’s not just an event, it’s ongoing and will help the community.”
In addition to the 285-seat auditorium that can be rented out to the community for weddings and events, Savia also has a Wi-Fi lounge, cafe and children’s classrooms.
The church has had a profound impact on its community, said Real Life Church member Regina Gutierrez.
“Coming to the Real Life Church has changed my life. My boyfriend started coming here two years ago,” she said. “He will be a year sober this year because of this church. It’s great to see [the church] grow.”
