On October 29, 2011, KHTS was pleased to welcome Action Family Counseling to the KHTS Studio. Cary Quashen, Alex Urbina, & Bob Sharits were featured on the KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight – hosted by Janice Murray.

The KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight airs Mondays at 10am on AM-1220 KHTS.

Action Family Counseling’s mission is to provide the highest quality chemical dependency, behavioral modification and mental health treatment services, which are accessible and affordable to adults, adolescents, and their families in a variety of treatment settings. To assist those who are impacted by mental illness and/or chemical dependency in decreasing the disease effects by promoting behavior change and providing support and education so that patients may obtain and maintain mental health stabilization and abstinence from chemical dependency.

Action Family Counseling’s philosophy is to introduce concepts that enforce the practice of a multidisciplinary team approach to treatment. Action believes in helping individuals develop healthy behavior patterns in all areas of their life, including, family, school, relationships, social and living skills. We believe such changes are crucial in a successful transition back to a healthy lifestyle. Action strongly emphasizes family involvement to create a support network both during and after treatment.

Action Family Counseling’s primary goals are to maintain abstinence, stabilize co-occurring illnesses, and increase quality of life. We support and reinforce change in behavior patterns so that adolescents and adults, or clients and their families can fully indoctrinate the philosophies and principles needed to remain abstinent and stabilized for life.

Action Family Counseling accomplishes this by providing an effective treatment approach developed by the Department of Health and Human Services that includes a multi-disciplinarian personalized approach by a treatment team. Once a patient is identified, we provide an initial screening and assessment, which allows us to properly diagnose and place patients in the appropriate treatment setting. Once a patient completes our intake process to our residential program he or she receives 24-hour crisis management, individual counseling, group therapy, family education and counseling, treatment planning, routine and random toxicology screening, pharmacotherapy and medication management, education about Alcohol and Other Drugs and mental health issues, self-help and support group orientation, case management services, and discharge service planning with a transitional service plan to our Intensive Outpatient treatment program to ensure a continuum of care.

KHTS would like to thank Cary Quashen, Alex Urbina, & Bob Sharits for stopping by the KHTS Studio.
