Non-Porfit_Pic_2-22-10

KHTS welcomed back the American Cancer Society to the KHTS studio on February 22, 2010. We featured Donkia Sanchez and Agnes Russell on the KHTS Non Profit Spotlight – hosted by Janice Murray.

Representatives came on-air to talk about upcoming events that are held annually right here in the Santa Clarita Valley as well as throughout the country. Events that raise needed funds for the society while raising cancer awareness.

Daffodil Days is once again upon us. This is one of the American Cancer Society’s oldest and most successful fundraising programs – celebrating the Society’s mission to eliminate cancer as a life threatening disease. Daffodil Days is an opportunity to offer daffodils to donors in appreciation for their contributions and takes place each spring.

Another popular event is Relay For Life – which takes place March 1,2010 at Central Park from 9AM Saturday to 9AM Sunday. When the sun goes down, thousands of luminaria light the way as participants walk together in a moving ceremony honoring the many lives touched by cancer. You can dedicate a luminaria to celebrate the life of a survivor or to remember a loved one who lost their fight with cancer.

May 22nd-23rd, American Cancer Society – Santa Clarita Valley will hold their Relay For Life Kickoff – to be held at the Spectrum Club in Valencia.

For information on ‘Relay For Life’, visit their web site www.scvrelay.org or call (661)298–0886.
