American Red Cross

Sponsored By Providence Holy Cross Health Center

The Week of June 16, 2008, Pat Allen and Mark Hershey from the American Red Cross stopped by the KHTS Community Resource Station and were featured on the KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight.

The Non-Profit, hosted by Janice Murray , airs every Monday and Friday at 10AM on AM-1220 KHTS and is sponsored by Providence Holy Cross Health Center.

We talked with Pat and Mark about the upcoming Hometown Heroes Recognition Breakfast.

The Hometown Heroes Recognition Breakfast will be held on September 11, 2008 at the Valencia Hyatt. This annual event honors people who have displayed heroic or humanitarian actions in our community. People whose compassionate, caring and charitable actions exemplify the true spirit of the American Red Cross. Nominations come from the community.

The Santa Clarita chapter has assisted in many disasters such as the Northridge Earthquake and most recently, they coordinated efforts with other Los Angeles chapters to assist millions of people affected by Hurricane Katrina and have sent a team to Iowa to assist with flood relief.

For nearly a century, the American Red Cross has prepared people to save lives through health and safety education and training. From first aid and CPR training to swimming and lifeguard instruction, American Red Cross Preparedness programs help people lead safer and healthier lives. The Red Cross constantly strives to respond to the preparedness concerns of Americans at home, in school and in the workplace.

The American Red Cross is led by volunteers and does not receive government assistance. They are always standing by and ready to provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
