Janice Murray & Hadessa Foster
On November 28, 2011, we welcomed Hadessa Foster from Bridges To Ability to the KHTS Non Profit Spotlight which is hosted by Janice Murray and airs Mondays on AM-1220, KHTS.
In the beginning, they were known as LET ME SAIL and after realizing how few social and recreational opportunities existed in the Santa Clarita Valley for older teens and adults with disabilities, a group of concerned parents founded LETMESAIL, Inc. in 2005. LETMESAIL began as a grassroots, all-volunteer effort and has grown into a community presence with more than a dozen collaborative partnerships.
LETME SAIL experienced phenomenal growth and sucess; quadrupling in size during its first few years of operation. There are over 180, predominately low-income individuals with specials needs, who participate in the organization’s programs.
During a Board of Directors Visioning Meeting in June 2010, the Board discussed the possiblity of a name change. LETMESAIL has always focused on the ‘ability’ of their clients and decided that the name, Bridges to Ability, better represented the organization’s philosphy and mission.
The mission of Bridges to Abilily is to improve the lives of teens and adults with disabilities through quality vocational, educational, social, and recreational programs.
KHTS would like to thank Hadessa Foster for stopping by the Kiosk and spending time with us.
