Hadessah Lyn Foster & Janice Murray

On November 26, 2012, KHTS was pleased to welcome Bridges To Ability to the KHTS Studio. Hadessah Lyn Foster was featured on the KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight – hosted by Janice Murray.

The KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight airs Mondays at 10am on AM-1220 KHTS.

After realizing how few social and recreational opportunities existed in the Santa Clarita Valley for older teens, adults with developmental disabilities, a group of concerned parents founded LETMESAIL, Inc. in 2005.

During a Board of Directors meeting in June 2010, the Board discussed the possiblity of a name change.  Because LETMESAIL had always focused on the ‘ability’ of its clients, the Board concluded that the name “Bridges to Ability” better represented and portrayed the organization’s philosphy and mission.

Bridges to Ability began as a grassroots, all-volunteer effort and has grown into a community presence with hundreds of clients and more than a dozen collaborative partnerships.

Bridges to Ability has experienced phenomenal growth and success, quadrupling in size during just its first few years of operation. There are now over 200, predominately low-income individuals with specials needs who participate in the organization’s diversified and extraordinary programs.

Bridges to Ability Foundation improves the lives of teens and adults with disabilities through quality vocational, educational, social, and recreational programs.

Services begin to drop off like a “cliff” for persons with developmental disabilities around the age of 18 or so.  They provide a “Bridge” to the continuity in much needed activities and services, to keep our clients stimulated, active and social, and to help give some respite to families.

After opening our clients to the world, their secondary mission is to then open the world to our clients – to help break down the stigma and discomfort too prevalent in society today toward persons with disabilities.

KHTS would like to thank Hadessah Lyn Foster for coming to the KHTS studio.
