Habitat For Humanity – May 6, 2013

Janice Murray with Habitat for Humanity

On May 6, 2013 Janice Murray, host of the Non-Profit Spotlight Show, sat down with Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat for Humanity San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valleys was founded in 1990 as an affiliate for Habitat of Humanity International.  We are a locally run, independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving North Los Angeles County, building houses for low-income working families and veteran families.  To date, we have built over 219 homes and are among the top 5% of Habitat affiliates nationwide to reach this goal.  This is a new kind of Habitat, for a new generation.

Habitat for Humanity discussed their upcoming event, the We Build women’s empowerment build, where women from all walks of life will raise some noise as we raise our hammers to build homes for needy veteran families and widows of the fallen. The San Fernando/Santa Clarita Habitat for Humanity WE (Women Empowerment) Build has helped to construct more than 220 houses in our community.
