The KHTS Community Resource Station was pleased to welcome Ian Swift and Ron Kraus from the Placerita Canyon Nature Center to the KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight on January 7, 2008 .The ‘Non-Profit Spotlight program is hosted by Janice Murray and can be heard Mondays and Fridays at 10AM on AM-1220 KHTS.
The Nature Center and Park not only serves to conserve a slice of the wild environment but also endeavors to educate the public on the value of undisturbed flora and fauna.
Their museum features exhibits on the natural history of southern California, and a small collection of live animals. Currently, the Nature Center is being remodeled and will soon reopen. The center is still open in temporary quarters.
You will also discover a network of hiking trails with special guided hikes available including a night hikes during the summer months. The park and nature center not only serves to conserve a slice of the wild environment but is also dedicated to educate the public and help to foster a deeper understanding of our local undisturbed flora and fauna through wild animal shows, nature hikes and educational trails.
The natural area is maintained by The County of Los Angeles, Department of Parks & Recreation. The Placerita Canyon Nature Center is non-profit organization.

Placerita Canyon Nature Center needs volunteer Docent-Naturalists to lead hikes and is currently conducting a 9-week certification course at the Nature Center.
