Dr. Kathy Kaplan & Janice Murray
During the week of June 13th, 2011, at the KHTS Community Resource Station, we featured Providence Holy Cross to the KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight.
The KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight, hosted by Janice Murray , airs Mondays at 10AM on AM-1220 KHTS.
Dr. Kathy Kaplan came to talk about Providence’s full spectrum of oncology care includes cancer prevention, cancer detection, cancer diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment, minimally invasive surgery, clinical research, rehabilitation and continuing education and support for their cancer patients and family.
Providence Cancer Centers also have a respected research center. Their distinguished team of oncologists, scientists, nurses and staff is actively involved in groundbreaking cancer research. Their physicians include national leaders of the American College of Radiology, Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), and American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology with access to the latest, most advanced research protocols available from the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Program, the Southwest Oncology Group, the Gynecologic Oncology Group, and the RTOG. The team participates in nationally recognized clinical trials to continually provide improved care and research related to cancer treatment and prevention. This means their patients have access to a number of therapies not generally available to the public.
Providence Holy Cross Medical Center has an established reputation for excellence in cancer care, with five-year survival rates in breast, colorectal, ovarian and prostate cancer that exceed national averages. They are expanding their expertise offered to residents of the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys by forming a relationship with the UCLA Department of Radiation Oncology. This relationship gives Providence Holy Cross patients access to even higher-quality clinical care, cutting-edge radiation therapy developed through decades of cancer research and innovation at UCLA, and access to more clinical trials. The UCLA Radiation Oncology team, providing professional physician services at the Providence Holy Cross Cancer Centers in Mission Hills and Santa Clarita, brings new state-of-the-art technologies and protocols ensuring the best possible care for our patients.
KHTS would like to thank Dr. Kathy Kaplan for spending time with us.
