Single Mother’s Outreach

Janice Murray, De Anne Smith, Saifawn Castillo, & Jeff Shapiro

On October 22, 2012, KHTS was pleased to welcome Single Mother’s Outreach to the KHTS Community Resource Station. De Anne Smith, Jeff Shapiro, & Saifawn Castillo were featured on the KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight – hosted by Janice Murray.

The KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight airs Mondays at 10am on AM-1220 KHTS.

Single Mothers Outreach was founded in 1995 as a support and resource for single mothers struggling through the effects of divorce or the death of a spouse. Single Mothers Outreach became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in May 1998. Since then, over 1700 families have been served.

In November 2007, the Board of Directors began a major reorganization to improve the quality and range of services it provides. As a result, Single Mothers Outreach updated its mission statement and developed a new plan of services to single parents and their children.

In January 2008, Single Mothers Outreach relocated to its present location in downtown Newhall, sharing the office space with the Los Angeles County Service Center of the Santa Clarita Valley and the Salvation Army. Single Mothers Outreach collaborates with both agencies and other community nonprofits in providing a full range of services to single parents and their families.

KHTS would like to thank DeAnne Smith, Jeff Shapiro, & Saifawn Castillo for stopping by the KHTS Community Resource Kiosk.
