On May 7, 2007, KHTS welcomed back our friends from Theatre Project Santa Clarita Valley. Andrea Slominksi and Mark Salyer spent time with Janice Murray at our Community Resource Station and were featured on the KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight – sponsored by Valencia Acura .

Their vision of bringing regional theatre to the Santa Clarita Valley offering Broadway-calibre productions at affordable prices has become a reality.

Last October, Theatre Project presented ‘An Evening with Stephen Schwartz’ at the College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center. The special event featured Broadway performers, as well as the composer himself performing songs and an appearance by Ben Vereen. This was the first of many high-quality productions that the Theatre Project is planning to bring to the Santa Clarita Valley.

Last Year, in an informal survey, the interest for regional theatre was identified.
72% of Santa Clarita Residents attend live theatre productions 1 to 5 times per year. The survey also found that 56% attend local productions.

Theatre Project Santa Clarita Valley believes that bringing regional theatre to the SCV will enhance and promote the arts in our community.

They are also planning to develop educational and professional training programs
offering classes, workshops and internships.

KHTS wants to thank Mark Salyer, and Andrea Slominski for spending time with us at the KHTS Community Resource Station.
