Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies found Cloud Volkert, 54, of Northridge, around 5:15 p.m. dead in a Buick Century.

The vehicle was parked in a lot facing Soledad Canyon Road, about a half-block before Whites Canyon Road. Volkert’s body was found slumped over in the driver’s seat. A witness reported seeing an alcohol container in the car.

The cause of death was pending an autopsy, which had not yet been performed, according to Lt. David Smith

Deputies on the scene did not report the appearance of foul play, and Homicide Bureau detectives from the Sheriff’s Department were not called to the scene.
