Northrop Grumman Donates $25K To Boys And Girls Club Of Santa Clarita

Congressman Buck McKeon joined community members to witness representatives from Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems present a $25,000 check to the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita on Wednesday.

Models of the company’s products, including those of the renowned Global Hawk and F-35, lined the information desk at the Buck McKeon Activity Center, drawing wide-eyed stares throughout the event from the children in attendance.

For 20 minutes, Tommy Tomlinson, Northrop Grumman site manager for the Palmdale Manufacturing Center, answered both innocent and hard-hitting questions from the curious youth:

“Do you just make those models, or actual planes?”

“How high do the jets fly?”

“How much does it cost to build a plane?”

“Is it possible to fly a plane way up into the sky and save on gas?”

After Tomlinson’s grilling, the Congressman spoke of advances in communication and aerospace technology.

When presented with the check, Boys and Girls Club Chief Professional Officer Jim Ventress remarked, “This money is going to help our Boys and Girls Club stay in operation.”

McKeon also praised the Boys and Girls Club’s presence in Santa Clarita.

“I think the Boys and Girls Club does great work here in the valley,” said McKeon. “Just look at these kids. For the employees of Northrop Grumman to do this – they put in this funding themselves and to really participate in the community I think is fantastic.”

Tomlinson said he was happy to represent Northrop Grumman at the event.

“It is personally rewarding to be able to participate in an event like this when you know your dollars are going to such an outstanding cause.”
