An off duty LAPD K-9 officer was on his way home from work early Friday morning when he was almost struck by a reckless truck….

The officer was travelling in his marked vehicle when he was almost hit by the male suspect in the truck.  The officer followed the suspect, who abandoned the vehicle near Briars Place and Kingston Place.

A search was subsequently launched with assistance by a Sheriff’s helicopter and two K-9 units, with no success.

At 7:30 a.m., the suspect turned himself in at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station.  No weapon was found, and an investigation will continue.
