Detectives and trained canines are searching the area of an
officer-involved shooting near Oak Ridge Drive
that occurred earlier this morning.
According to Sgt. Darren Harris of the Santa Clarita Valley station, deputies received a call around 9:30 this morning about a suspicious vehicle in the area of
the Oak Tree Apartments and responded to that location. When deputies arrived,
the suspect vehicle sped away and crashed into parked cars on nearby Shawna
Place.
As three suspects got out of the vehicle
and started to run away, one turned toward the deputies and pointed a gun in
their direction. One deputy fired an undetermined amount of shots at the
suspect, but the suspect was not hit.
Deputies set up a containment in the area and pursued the
suspects on foot, arresting all three and recovering one handgun.
A second handgun may be in the area and canine units were
called in to help with the search.
