In the month of May, Old Town Newhall will be the place for a slate of community events offering something for everyone, including the weekly Farmers Market, Taste of Cinco de Mayo, Santa Clarita’s very own Cupcake Wars, interactive music performances and show-stopping entertainment at the local theaters.

To kick off the events, the City of Santa Clarita in conjunction with the Old Town Newhall Association and the Santa Clarita Valley Latino Chamber of Commerce, will host a celebration of Latino Culture with the Taste of Cinco de Mayo from 4 to 9 p.m. May 5. Along with the First Thursday food trucks, there will be displays of visual art, the award-winning Folklorico Dancers, authentic music and much more on Main Street between 6^th and 8^th Streets.

On Thursday, May 12, the battle for cupcake supremacy is on as Santa Clarita bakeries frost it out to create a delicious cupcake that reflects the theme of the Amgen Tour of California. Santa Clarita’s very own Cupcake Wars start at 5 p.m. on Main Street. The winner of Santa Clarita Cupcake Wars will be served in the VIP tent for the Amgen Tour of California event on Sunday, May 22.

The Western Music Association proudly presents their bi-monthly Jam Session at El Trocadero Restaurant from 7 to 9 p.m. on May 4 and 18. If your tastes turn more towards rock ‘n’ roll, the Canyon Guild Theatre will be presenting “In My Life,” a musical tribute to the Beatles, featuring the cover band Abbey Road.
