One Valley One Vision Workshops Planned

The City of Santa Clarita is inviting residents to attend the One
Valley One Vision open house sessions to discuss all aspects of the
local areas developmental plans. The four open house sessions are
scheduled throughout the month of November and will be held in
locations throughout the Valley.

[view:node_ad=5]The sessions are designed as a way to seek the input of residents throughout the Valley while also informing them of the elements of the One Valley One Vision General Plan. All meetings will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the following dates, at the following locations: Thursday November 6th, at the Santa Clarita Activities Center, 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway in Santa Clarita; Monday, November 10th at Ranch Pico Junior High School, 26250 W. Valencia Boulevard in Stevenson Ranch; Thursday, November 13th at Pinetree Elementary School, 29156 Lotusgarden Drive in Santa Clarita and Monday, November 17th at Castaic Elementary School, 30455 Park Vista Drive in Castaic.

“Since the initiation of this project the City has executed a comprehensive and multi-faceted approach to reaching out to residents and obtaining their suggestions and recommendations.” said Paul Brotzman, Director of Community Development for the City of Santa Clarita.

The One Valley One Vision program is a joint effort between the County of Los Angeles, the City of Santa Clarita residents and businesses to create a single vision and guidelines for the future growth of the Valley and the preservation of natural resources.

The City is keenly aware of the value of public participation on OVOV.  Since the initiation of this project there has been a comprehensive, multi-faceted approach to reaching out to the residents of this valley and to obtaining their suggestions and recommendations. The highlight of this effort resulted in a Valley Congress in 2001 with over 200 participants who created and ratified a set of guiding principles to develop this general plan.  These principles from residents and stakeholders throughout this valley became the basis for the OVOV General Plan.  This participation set the tone and standard for the collective outreach on this project.

During the planning phases of this project, the OVOV team has met with over 35 stakeholder groups and/or had meetings with local organizations and agencies including town councils, water purveyors, school districts, community groups, the Chamber of Commerce, utility providers and other City committees.  Additionally, staff has conducted over 20 community meetings and workshops.  There have been more than 10 hearings or presentations to the Planning Commission and City Council about aspects of OVOV.
