Program hopes to help disadvantaged kids make prom a reality.
When it comes time for high school prom, kids in Santa Clarita spend a great deal of time picking out their tuxedo or dress, ordering flowers and blocking out hours of time at the beauty salon. Prom is billed as one of the most memorable nights of the high school experience, although for some, the high cost of the event makes it a memory they’ll never have. Cue the good nature of Santa Clarita…
The William S. Hart District has forged a partnership with the SCV Assistance League, ROP programs, Flair Beauty College and Flair Cleaners to help homeless and needy high school seniors attend prom in style.
The goal of the program is to collect suits, tuxedos, cocktail dresses, shoes, and accessories from the community that can be worn by local students who can’t afford the purchase. On the day of prom, the benefiting students will also receive flowers and salon service.
So far the biggest need is suits and tuxedoes for male students.
Donations of the above listed items can be made to any Santa Clarita Jr. high or high school.
