It seems that Halloween is the new Christmas and to celebrate the Old Town Newhall Association is calling all kids.

On October 24, OTNA will host a Halloween parade filled with children of all ages dressed in costume.

The parade is part of a month long series of events to take over Old Town Newhall, including the Main Street Zombie March, Heritage Haunt, and a pumpkin patch.

Children should meet at 9 a.m. at the start of the parade on the corner of Eighth and Main, and if you can’t separate Timmy from his cat, dress it up too.

“Were hoping that kids of all ages will dress up in Halloween costumes and come down Main Street to be judged,” said Suzie Szabo of the Old Town Newhall Association.

Participants will compete for the best costumes in a variety of categories, including individual with pet.

Judging the costume contest will be the Optimist Club of Santa Clarita.

The parade ends at William S. Hart Park where there will be a pumpkin patch, food and other activities.

OTNA previously hosted a Christmas parade, but due to budget cutbacks with the city, changed the parade theme to be included in the October festivities of Old Town Newhall.
