If your child has had an interest in learning to surf, this summer is the season for them. The City of Santa Clarita is excited to offer a one-week Surf Camp in Oxnard for kids, ages 9-17, beginning Monday, July 18, through Friday, July 22.
“Santa Clarita’s Surf Camp is the perfect way to have some fun in the sun while not having to worry about the drive back and forth to the beach,” commented Mayor Marsha McLean. “The City of Santa Clarita is excited to offer a new opportunity for kids to learn more about a favorite California pastime that benefits the body, mind, and soul.”

In conjunction with the Island Surf Camp in Oxnard, Santa Clarita’s Surf Camp will include transportation by shuttle to Oxnard and back. Campers will be grouped by age, ability, and comfort level and will participate in a wide variety of water and beach activities. First-time surfing and boogie boarders will get one-on-one attention with an instructor. Soft boards and rash guards will be provided. The cost is $295 for City residents and $310 for non-residents.
Beginning on Monday, July 18, the transportation shuttle to the beach will depart from the Santa Clarita Activities Center parking lot at 8:30 a.m. and will return at 3:30 p.m. daily. Campers are encouraged to bring sun block, a towel, and a lunch with them daily. A pizza lunch is available to purchase for $5.00 a day. Care before or after surf camp will not be provided.
