Palmdale Man Dies In Sierra Highway Crash

khts_crime_genericA 21-year old Palmdale man died in a head-on collision that also critically injured a 78-year old Santa Clarita man Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Sierra Highway, just south of Agua Dulce Canyon Road. Anthony Charles Evans, 21, was driving north on Sierra Highway when he attempted to pass a vehicle, crossing the double yellow lines on the road. Frank William Hoover, 78, was driving southbound on Sierra Highway and was hit by Evans.

Evans was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Hoover was airlifted to Holy Cross Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
