Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies from Parks Bureau stopped Tye Marcus Pipho, 21, of Canyon Country, for a traffic violation on Friday.
“He was stopped for a traffic violation and they contacted him and found out that he was on parole,” said Paul Schrader, PIO for the Sheriff’s Department’s Park Bureau.
The deputies smelled marijuana in the car after they made their initial contact, he said.
“The deputies conducted a narcotic investigation and discovered a baggie of marijuana and a small plastic container of hashish oil in the suspect’s vehicle,” according to Sheriff’s Department officials.
“Through further investigation, they were able to determine that they needed to go to a secondary location,” Schrader said.
“After they got there and started their investigation, they were able to ascertain there were drugs in the house,” he said.
In furtherance of the narcotic investigation, the deputies went to a residence in Valencia, where they found 21-year-old Thomas Stuart Palmer.
At Palmer’s residence, they found a bag containing four pounds of marijuana with a street value of $18,000, a digital scale that is normally used in marijuana sells operations and equipment used to manufacture hash.
Palmer was immediately arrested and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station for furnishing/transportation of marijuana for sales in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Pipho was also arrested and booked at the Sheriff’s Station for transportation of marijuana for sales and possession of concentrated cannabis with the same bail.
Palmer was released on bail Saturday morning and scheduled for a hearing Wednesday.
Castaic Lake Park is located at 32132 Ridge Route Road Castaic.
