Parks Commission Elects New Officers

The City of Santa Clarita’s Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Commission elected a new Commission Chair and Vice Chair at the September 1 meeting.

Commission member Edward Redd was elected to serve as the new Chair of the committee, replacing previous Chair Todd Longshore, who will remain a commissioner. Commissioner Laurie Ender will now serve as the Vice Chair, the position which Redd previously occupied. The remaining commissioner seats belong to Karin Nelson and Laura Hauser.

The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission advises the City Council in all matters pertaining to parks and public recreation, and cooperates with other governmental agencies and civic groups in the advancement of sound park and recreation planning and programming. Each of the five Commissioners is a resident of the City and was appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the City Council.

“We are confident that the commissioners have made excellent choices in appointing Ed Redd and Laurie Ender as the new Chair and Vice Chair. These new elections will ensure that the Parks Commission maintains its fresh approach to advising the City Council,” said City Manager Ken Pulskamp.

The five-member Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Commission meets on the first Thursday of the month, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers on the first floor of City Hall, located 23920 Valencia Boulevard.

Members of the public wishing to address the Commission may attend any meeting and submit a speaking request form. For more information, contact the Commission Secretary at 661/255-4945.
