Parrot Wiggles Out Of Captivity In Sand Canyon

birdfrontviewWiggles, a Congo African Grey parrot that’s recently moved to Sand Canyon, decided to explore his new area and his owner is frantically searching for him.

Tracee, the parrot’s owner, says that the bird, which will turn 3 on July 3, got out of the house on Thursday evening and flew into a tree across Lost Canyon Road. The bird moved a few houses down on Friday, but Tracee has not seen the bird since.

After broadcasting the lost bird information on a Sand Canyon homeowners network, she told KHTS that there was a sighting on Tuesday one street over from Lost Canyon, which gives her hope.

birdsideview“If she’s nearby, you will most likely hear occasional beeps, similar to microwaves, ovens, washers and dryers,” Tracee said. “She may also whistle. She has a very large vocabulary, but I highly doubt she will talk while she’s away like this, though it’s possible.”

Wiggles has a distinguishing factor – a bump on her left leg from an earlier break. Her left leg is about a half-inch shorter than the other leg, which makes for difficult landings.

Tracee said that parrots are most active at sunrise and sundown and that pillowcases and cat carriers make excellent emergency bird carriers.
