(Part 2): Joel Cox, Editor For Clint Eastwood

This is a continuance of an interview with Joel Cox, academy award winning editor for Clint Eastwood.

Clint Eastwood’s latest film contributions pack a potent punch as they tackle the story of Iwo Jima from both sides. The first, Flags of Our Fathers takes the audience on a journey through the second raising of the American Flag on Iwo Jima, and the repercussions of that.
According to Joel, Clint became engaged with Japanese General Kuribayashi, that he decided to do two films.
The films were written by different people, and Letters from Iwo Jima is set to be released in the United States soon.
The films are getting rave reviews, and Joel Cox edited them both.
But Joel just loves what he does.
“I feel like I’m the luckiest man in the world,” he says.
He is the recipient of an academy award for Unforgiven, and he was nominated for another for Million Dollar Baby.
Winning isn’t everything, but in a moment of refreshing honesty, Joel did elude to the fact that it is a whole lot of fun.
“It’s a little sad when you don’t win, but the reality is that 80% of those nominated don’t.”

Cox has 30 editing credits to his name, and doesn’t plan on stopping soon.
