Safety Patrol traveling to local elementary schools
Thursday afternoon, hundreds of Peachland Elementary school students got a chance to climb all over a 1948 fire truck, sit in the front seat of a Sheriff’s cruiser, go on the radio, and tour a real working LA County Fire Engine.
It’s a part of a program called Safety Patrol, in which the LA County Fire Department, LA County Sheriff’s, KHTS AM-1220 radio and SC Physicians Immediate Care have teamed up to teach Santa Clarita students safety tips.
Of course, the program is also designed to be fun for the kids. So, amid the teaching of safe practices, the students were encouraged to ask questions of the emergency responders and check out their vehicles.
SC Physicians Immediate Care had a representative on hand to give safety tips for bike and skateboard riding. Students were taught how to properly wear a bicycle helmet and why it is important.
