Back to the Peeples Place at KHTS portal.
You’ve landed on Peeples Place at KHTS!
We’re on holiday break. Thanks for your support in 2011 and we invite you to join us again in the New Year, when we’ll return with news and interviews on a more occasional basis, as time and inspiration allow. Think “Deacon Blues.”
We do have two hot items, though, before we get back off the grid to celebrate the last gasps of 2011 and the first breaths of 2012.
THIS JUST IN: COMMAND HOSTS, RECORDS INAUGURAL BLUES JAM THURSDAY — Command Recording Studios will host its first Open Blues Jam on Thursday, Jan. 5 starting at 7:30 p.m.
“It’s not like any other jam you may have gone to,” said studio co-owners Robbie Altschuler and Matt Twining in an email Friday. “For one thing, there’s NO host band! Just bring your guitars, keyboards, sticks or whatever to play. There’s a complete back line with mikes and a vocal booth too. An early start time allows everyone to get in some quality playing time.”
Here’s the best part: “As a bonus, the entire night is recorded and mixed live! The sessions are then edited and posted on Facebook/Soundcloud for all to hear! Not only do people get to play, but they can also hone their recording skills while having a high-quality recording of their playing available online 24-7.”
I’m there!
There’s water and coffee available at the studio plus a refrigerator so you can BYOB. Command Recording Studios is located at 25327 Avenue Stanford #106 in Valencia. Call 661-702-8933 to find out more — ask for Robbie or Matt.
UPDATED: VOTING OVER, MELTDOWN NOT A FINALIST — The ninth annual “Summer Meltdown Concert for Social Inclusion and Autism Awareness,” hosted by the students of Hart District’s nonprofit Yes I Can program, was one of the top 40 contestants running for a money grant in the 2011 Pepsi Refresh Project as of mid-December.
But voting has now closed and it appears Summer Meltdown did not make the list of finalists, now posted at www.refresheverything.com/summermeltdown2012.
Pepsi will announce the final winners on Jan. 23 at 9 a.m. PT.
