Pico Canyon Elementary Student Wins Local Art Contest


A second-graders artwork wins money for his schools art
program.

Canyon Elementary
School has announced that one of their second
grade students, Matthew Ro placed first in the Santa Clarita Art on Canvas
Gallery during the city Street Art Festival.

The City of Santa Clarita
invited all artists, school age and professional, to enter an original piece of
art work to be displayed in the Art on Canvas Gallery during the Street Art
Festival. 

The cities goal with this program was to encourage
professional artists, to promote the Arts in schools, and to give confidence to
children in the Arts. 

The City of Santa
Clarita presented each category K-4, 5-8, 9-12, and
professional with a trophy and a cash award to be presented to their schools to
go towards their Arts program. 

The contest theme this year was “Santa Clarita-Where the
Good Life Take You” and Ro took the top prize for the K-4 category.
