A landslide Wednesday afternoon ruptured a pipeline and sent over 40,000 gallons of oil into a portion of Pyramid Lake…
The rupture, which occured approximately one quarter mile from the lake, was reported shortly after 1pm Wednesday afternoon. The oil got into a nearby creek which flows under Interstate 5 freeway and into Pyramid lake.
Local officials now believe they have the oil spill contained to a 5 mile portion of the lake, and do not believe the spill poses any threat to drinking water.
