Placerita Canyon Nature Center will be hosting their annual Open House and Family Festival on Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will take place at Placerita Canyon Natural Area on Placerita Canyon Road in Newhall.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating the Year of the Snake.” They invite residents to come participate in fun activities about snakes and other creatures found in our area. Some of activities include a treasure hunt, animal presentations, panning for “Fool’s Gold,” guided hikes, face painting and informative exhibits on conservation, wildlife and local history.
Admission and parking are free. Children’s crafts, face painting and panning for “fool’s gold” are available for a nominal fee.
