An equipment failure left residents in Valencia and Saugus without power earlier than expected Wednesday…
“We did have a planned outage to start at 9 a.m. (Wednesday),” said Paul Klein, spokesman for Southern California Edison. “But apparently we experienced an equipment failure.”
The source of the equipment failure turned out to be a transformer in Valencia, which resulted in the power going out at 2:50 a.m., more than six hours earlier than anticipated.
“We’re in the process of replacing the transformer and possibly a switch,” Klein said Wednesday.
Originally, the power outage affected 2,262 customers, but as of 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, only 300 customers were without power.
The area affected was south of Rotunda Road, north of Lyons Avenue, east of Interstate 5 and west of Vermont Drive in Valencia.
