Acosta Responds To Gov. Brown’s Rejection Of Gold Star Family License Plates

“It is a sad day in politics when we use mismanagement of taxpayer dollars at the DMV as an excuse to not do something good for the families of fallen soldiers. Instead of halting progress, the answer should be to fix the gross lack of oversight and misuse of public funds at the DMV. Unfortunately, Governor Brown blocked oversight and instead demanded even more taxpayer funds be spent without transparency.

“Governor Brown in his veto message made the preposterous claim that my bill would require extensive IT upgrades and that this would reduce the ability of the DMV to reduce wait times for driver’s license renewals,” Acosta said. “Custom license plates are already offered by the DMV. ”

“Asking them to extend an existing service to Gold Star families in California should have no effect on the DMV’s abilities to provide service, unless the DMV leadership is incapable of doing its core job already,” he added.

“Real damages are done to our constituents when politicians choose to look the other way as waste and abuse comes to light. Governor Brown, working with Sacramento politicians, has sent a clear message that hiding the truth of mismanagement at the DMV is more important than getting to the bottom of this problem that they’ve chosen to ignore fellow Gold Star families along the way is unconscionable.”

  1. Vote on Nov 6th. There is so much at stake in this State, we need people that want to serve the people not themselves or some kind of moon beam dreams.

  2. Is he serious? Why would Brown veto this? He signs plenty of stupid bills that raise our taxes and screw property owners over royally!!! Such a simple thing to honor loved ones.

  3. As usual, Gov. (Flush it Down) Brown and his Democrat “warriors” will do just about anything to thwart something as simple as a Gold Star License Plate. We have Inmates making these plates, so why the rejection? Must be that Brown and his bunch don’t care for our Military, their sacrifices and their families.

  4. I am a bit confused. Both my vehicles have Gold Star plates. What was vetoed??
