“The posting of graphic photos of animal cruelty by an Animal Care Officer is extremely disturbing, and in stark contrast to the Department’s mission of helping people and animals and demonstrating respect for animals,” said Antonovich. “While the department is investigating this matter, we’d like to see the adoption of a zero tolerance disciplinary policy for employees who commit similar egregious acts.”

Some of the explicit photos showed burned dogs, charred roosters, and animal extremities. Many of the photos, which were posted within the past several weeks, reportedly went viral.

The motion directs the Interim Chief Executive Office in consultation with the Department of Animal Care and Control and the Department of Human Resources to report back to the board in 30 days.
