Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, was named Monday to a state group working to strengthen relations with Canada, officials said.
Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins, D-San Diego, named Wilk to the Council of State Governments West policy committee on West Canada Relations this week.

The CSG West Canada Relations Committee strives to strengthen the understanding, ties and collaboration among legislators of the 13 U.S. Western States and the Western Canadian Provinces.
“I’m honored to be appointed to the CSG West Canada Relations Committee,” Wilk stated. “Canada is one of California’s largest trading partners and I am looking forward to working with other elected officials in the CGS West region to maintain the positive relationship between the United States and Canada.”
Participating legislators have the opportunity to engage with key federal and private sector shareholders from both countries to address issues of common concern and identify shared solutions.
The committee facilitates dialogue on a wide range of binational issues, including, but not limited to, agriculture, border crossings, economic competitiveness, energy, health, security, trade and transportation.
CSG West is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization created to serve Western legislatures through regional cooperation and advocacy.
