In conjunction with the National Town Hall Day being organized by students around the country, students from Santa Clarita have scheduled an open forum event for April 7.
“It will be a Q&A discussing specifically gun reform,” said Philip Germain, one of the organizers of the event. “Students from each side of the aisle will be speaking. We’re not closing off any debate.”
The event is entirely student organized, Germain said, and is meant to give residents an opportunity to see where the congressional candidates for the 25th Congressional District stand on the issue of gun violence.
“I think it shows how dedicated these students are to getting answers from their representatives,” said Germain.
Event organizers have extended an invitation for the congressional candidates to speak at the event. While many candidates have accepted the invitation, Congressman Steve Knight has yet to answer, according to Germain.
“We’re not going out with an agenda,” said Germain. “We just want answers.”
The Open Forum is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in Boykin 105 at College of the Canyons.

It would be neat if someone could broadcast this discussion. If it is being streamed I’d appreciate the info. (In a perfect world there’d be less baseball and more live politics.)
I hope there will be a podcast or webcast to listen to/view after as I will be unable to attend.
