Barger, Park To Face Off For Board Of Supervisors

After seven electoral updates, it appears Kathryn Barger and Darrell Park are going to be facing off for the 5th District county Board of Supervisors race in November.

Barger, the chief deputy for Supervisor Michael Antonovich, the current 5th District supervisor, took the lion’s share of the votes during election night in the June Primary race, with about 105,012 votes, or 29.66 percent.

Park, who runs his own company, Better Than We Found It, came in second place, with 54,829 votes or 15.48 percent of the vote. State Sen. Bob Huff, who represents the 29th District, was only a few hundred votes behind Park on election night. However, that lead has now grown to more than 2,000, with Huff garnering 52,133 votes as of the most recent June counts.

Officials with the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorders Office have process nearly 50,000 additional ballots since the June primary, according to county officials.

The final canvas is expected to be released July 1. There are still about 60,000 provisional ballots outstanding.

The total election results count is now at 2,006,976, which is 41.7 percent of eligible Los Angeles County voters.

Ara Najarian, a Glendale City Council member, came in fourth place, with 46,286 votes, and Mitchell Englander, Los Angeles City Council president pro tem, came in fifth with 42,641.
