Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich and Senator Fran Pavley will both be termed out of office in 2016.

Nine people will potentially run for  a spot on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on the primary election on June 7, 2016, according to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s office.

Antonovich has endorsed Kathryn Barger, who is Antonovich’s chief of staff, to replace him on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

Los Angeles City Councilmember Mitchell Englander, Glendale Mayor Ara Najarian, State senator Robert Huff and criminal gang prosecutor at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office Elan Carr will potentially run for Antonovich’s seat.

KHTS AM-1220 co-owner Jeri Seratti-Goldman has endorsed Los Angeles City Councilman Mitchell Englander.

Others potentially running for Antonovich’s seat include Paj Pal Kahlon, Alan Reynolds, Altadena Councilmember William Malone and Pauline Field.

Democrat Senator Fran Pavley’s, D-Agoura Hills, term will be ending in 2016, which means her seat in California’s 27th Senate District will be up for election that same year.

Pavley has endorsed Democrat Henry Stern to replace her as state senator in the 27th Senate District. Stern was Pavley’s policy adviser for the 27th Senate District.

The 27th Senate District has a slice of the Santa Clarita Valley.

Senator Sharon Runner’s, R-Lancaster, seat in the 21st State District is also up for election in 2016.

Runner has announced she plans to run for reelection in 2016.

Democrat Johnathon Ervin, Iraq War veteran and president of the Democratic Club of the High Desert in the Antelope Valley, has announced his campaign to run against Runner.

The 21st Senate District includes the cities of Santa Clarita, Palmdale and Lancaster.

The Santa Clarita Valley’s two Assemblymembers will both be up for election in 2016.

Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, who represents California’s 38th Assembly District has announced he will be running for reelection in 2016.

Assemblyman Tom Lackey, R-Palmdale, who represents California’s 36th Assembly District has also announced he will be running for reelection in 2016.

According to officials from the California Secretary of State’s office, no one has filed to run against Assemblyman Wilk or Assemblyman Lackey yet.

Former Assemblyman Steve Fox could run for Tom Lackey’s seat this year, as Lackey defeated Fox in the 2014 election about 60 percent to 30 percent.

California’s 38th Assembly District consists of the Santa Clarita and Simi Valleys, along with parts of Soledad Canyon and the San Fernando Valley.

California’s 36th Assembly District is dominated by the Antelope Valley, but covers parts of Canyon Country and Saugus.

Maria Gutzeit, Evan Thomas and Lou Vince have shown interest in taking over Representative Steve Knight’s, who represents California’s 25th Congressional district, seat in Congress.

Rep. Knight has announced he is running for reelection in 2016.

Gutzeit, Thomas and Vince are all democrats while Knight is a republican.

Gutzeit is a board member of the Newhall County Water District, Thomas is a former United States Air Force officer and test pilot and Vince is a former detective with the LAPD and an elected member of the Agua Dulce Town Council.

California’s 25th Congressional District includes the communities throughout the Antelope, Santa Clarita and Simi Valleys.

The candidate filing period is between 118 and 88 days of the primary election on June 7, 2016 and the election in November 2016.
