The Santa Clarita School board candidates sat down with SCVTV, Cougar News, The Signal and KHTS to discuss the issues impacting the valley’s students.

Saugus Union School District
The Saugus Union School District consists of five trustee areas, three of which are up for reelection this year. In the second session of the day, SCVTV, Cougar News, The Signal and KHTS took time to ask each of the candidates a handful of questions about their ideas for their district. The candidates that participated in Saturday’s forum were:

William S. Hart Union School District
The Hart District, which oversees Santa Clarita’s junior high and high schools, also has three trustee areas on the ballot. In all three, an incumbent is running, but only two have competition. Charise Moore, who was appointed to the seat, is running unopposed for Trustee Area 3. The candidates that participated in Saturday’s forum were:

Newhall School District
This elementary school district has two governing board seats up for election, but one incumbent faces no challengers. Brian Walters will be the only name on the ballot for Trustee Area 1, while two retired school administrators will compete for the Trustee Area 2 seat, vacated by Christy Smith as she campaigns for California Assembly. The candidates that participated in Saturday’s forum were:

Santa Clarita Community College District Governing Board
Only the Trustee Area 5 seat is open for the community college district (sometimes called the COC Governing Board), but two challengers have come forward to challenge incumbent Joan MacGregor for the seat. The candidates that participated in Saturday’s forum were:
