In last financial disclosures before the midterm elections, Democratic Candidate Katie Hill raised $3.2 million, nearly ten times more than her incumbent opponent, Congressman Steve Knight.

With the closure of the third quarter, the FEC has published the receipts and disbursements for both congressional candidates.

Hill ended the last full quarter of the year before November with $3,257,786 in net contributions collected between July 1 and Sept. 30 of this year, according to FEC filings.

During that same three month period, Knight collected $376,615 in net contributions, meaning that Knight raised only a tenth in contributions that of his Democratic challenger.

“To close out our last financial quarter so strongly, without taking a penny from corporate PACs, is something I am deeply proud of,” said Hill. “We are going into the final stretch of this campaign ready to finish strong and ensure we finally have a representative who will bring our community’s priorities to Washington.”

However, it is important to note that the difference in contributions for this quarter do not directly reflect the amount that each candidate is spending within the CA-25 district race.

For instance, while Hill has raised $3.2 million in contributions and spent $2.3 million in net operating expenditures, Knight was still able to spend $1.3 million in net operating expenditures for this past quarter, using funds that he had been raising since before the primary.

And while they’ve also been outspent by Hill’s campaign, Knight’s campaign has said that they are not worried about the sizable financial differences.

“We were able to save money during the primary season, giving us ‘rollover’ from previous quarters, and we chose to spend our money in the last three months,” said Matt Rexroad, a spokesperson with the Steve Knight for Congress campaign. “But he has been outspent in every one of his congressional district races, and this is his third.”

Rexroad went on to say that Knight’s name recognition and experience within the district could more than makeup for the difference in campaign contributions and spending.

Hill seems to disagree.

“This quarter’s fundraising numbers prove what we already knew – this community is ready for change,” said Hill. “It’s going to be very close, and we need all of the support we can get to win on Election Day. Thanks to this incredible movement we’ve built, we’re ready for the final push.”

  1. Oh really, Hill? Your campaign fundraising numbers prove nothing than you having more wealthy contributors for your cause. Do you really know SCV and the people who live here? You don’t speak for me when you say “this community is ready for a change”.

  2. She speaks for me. Do any of the politicians get their money from anyone but wealthy contributors? You’re living in a bubble if you don’t think so. Let’s get the the bums out of DC and new ideas in.

  3. Barn breath??? That’s funny… its not nice, and it is name calling, but it is funny. #TeamSteve

  4. Can you say Higher GAS TAXES ????. Horrible Politician bought and paid for by Nancy Pelosi . Yes on 6 Vote for Steve Knight and Dante Acosta.

    • I don’t mind paying higher gas tax if it’s going to fix the roads. The extra $2.40 a fill up is not going to break me.

So Steve Knight and Dante Acosta aren’t in the pockets of the rich? Do they stand up to Trump and his daily lying? Are they looking out for your best interest?

VOTE NO on 6 and VOTE FOR Katie Hill and Christy Smith.
