Republican gubernatorial candidate John Cox made a stop at the Republican Headquarters in Santa Clarita Saturday to meet voters, as well as lend his support to incumbent Congressman Steve Knight, R-Santa Clarita, three days before the midterm election.

As soon as his campaign bus pulled into the parking lot, the assembled crowd erupted in applause. Cox was greeted by Congressman Steve Knight, as well as Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste, Mayor Pro Tem Marsha McLean and Councilman Cameron Smyth.
“We are going to have a new day in California and it starts with electing a new governor on Tuesday,” Cox told the crowd. “Let me tell you ladies and gentlemen, the people that have run this state into the ground are going to be removed on Tuesday.”
Cox also encouraged the crowd to support Knight when they go to vote on Tuesday.
“We need to make sure that Washington has the right help,” Cox said. “That’s why we need to return Steve Knight to Congress.”
During the rally, Cox led the group in “Yes on 6” chants, in reference to Proposition 6 which would repeal the state gas tax under SB-1, as well as establishing a check on any similar legislation by the California legislature in the future
Cox then told the crowd that his first act as governor would be to cancel the California High-Speed Rail, which he said was “over budget.”
“We’re going to cancel that over-budget train, and we’re going to return the registration fees that every single person paid on their car under that decision,” Cox said. “They certainly cash our checks all the time don’t they? It’s about time they sent something back to us.”
Cox also addressed the housing situation in California, referring to as a “crisis.”
“We’re going to help millions of struggling, forgotten Californians who have been beaten to death by the housing crisis in this state,” Cox said. “This housing crisis is politician-caused. We’re going to cut the red tape, cut the taxes, cut the litigation, and truly build affordable homes for people in this wonderful state.”
Other issues Cox addressed in his speech included water rationing, homelessness and the debate over sanctuary states.
At the end, Cox encouraged everyone to keep working hard to get people to vote.
“Let’s make sure we get every Republican vote,” Cox said. “But let’s also make sure that we talk to independents, and our Democratic friends as well, because all of us are suffering under the struggling conditions of this beautiful state.”
Cox’s appearance was part of his bus tour across the state as he continues to rally voters ahead of Tuesday’s election.

“I’m visiting every neighborhood in this state,” Cox said. “I’m not missing anything, because the struggling, forgotten Californians absolutely need that help.”
The San Francisco Chronicle recently reported that Cox was polling behind his Democratic opponent Gavin Newsom, who also appeared in Santa Clarita Saturday, by over 10 percent.
Cox is set to visit Sacramento, Bakersfield and Berkeley in the coming days as he attempts to close that polling gap before the election on Tuesday.

Wow, such a small crowd compared to Newsom.
If only a miracle could happen, but there are so many stupid people here now, mostly came from somewhere else. Too many pot heads too.
