“A year ago when I was inspired to run, I never could have imagined ending up on the cover of TIME,” said Hill. “I’m so proud to be part of this incredible movement of women – not only those running but all of those who are doing the hard work on the ground to make positive change for our country.”

The cover story, “The Avengers,” by TIME correspondent Charlotte Alter, features a number of other women alongside Hill who were all inspired to run for political office after the March last year.

“Call it payback, call it a revolution, call it the Pink Wave, inspired by marchers in their magenta hats, and the activism that followed,” Alter writes. “There is an unprecedented surge of first-time female candidates, overwhelmingly Democratic, running for offices big and small, from the U.S. Senate and state legislatures to local school boards.”

The article and cover come on the precipice of the one year anniversary of the “Women’s March,” an event that movement leaders and participants in #MeToo plan to recognize once again on Saturday.

In addition to leading a group at the March in Los Angeles on Jan. 20, Hill and members of her campaign team also plan to participate in a #MeToo Rally being conducted near the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station that same day — a local response to a recent revelation of hundreds of SCV Women being harassed on social media by a single individual.

“Thank you to everyone here in our community who has helped grow this movement and our campaign,” concluded Hill. “Together we can make our democracy truly representative of and working for all of us.”
