The new farm bill swept through the House of Representatives Wednesday with a vote count of 369-47.

On Tuesday, the Senate also passed the bill with an 87-13 vote in favor of the bill.

But although the bill has journeyed through the House and Senate, it still needs to be signed by President Donald Trump to be enacted into law.

Hemp is a variation of cannabis that is grown specifically for the industrial uses of its derived products, according to officials.

The plant can be used for food, paper, rope, building materials and a wide variety of other products.

Though cannabis and hemp are similar, hemp does not contain the same profile as cannabis and therefore will no longer be prohibited under the same restrictions of the CSA.

Under federal drug policy, the CSA regulates the manufacture, importation, possession, use, and distribution of certain substances.

The federal law follows a similar bill authored by Senator Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, which legalized industrial hemp in California.

Aside from the industrial use of hemp material to make fabrics and rope material, Legislation in favor of industrial hemp is a significant development for producers of cannabidiol, or CBD oil, according to officials.

CBD oil is used in many states where cannabis is legal to help relieve symptoms of epileptic seizures, anxiety, inflammation, and sleeplessness, according to WebMD.

The bill addresses a wide range of areas including farming, nutrition, conservation, trade, energy and forestry, according to officials.

Negotiations concerning the final version of the Farm Bill have been in limbo for months due to conflicting versions set out by the House and Senate, according to officials.

Though the last bill expired on Oct. 1, many elements continue to receive funding through the end of the year.
