“It’s so slow,” Paige Weaver, a volunteer at the polling place, said. “By (10:30 a.m) there’s been only four people, six if you count provisional votes.”

There are currently 26,204 people registered to vote in the Hart School District Trustee Area 1 election and 30,745 registered to vote in the Trustee Area 4 election, according to records from the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder office.

The NCWD had two seats up for grabs with incumbents Lynne Plambeck and Dan Mortensen running against challengers Jeff Ford and Don Cruikshank.

The Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center was the host to one of 28 polling places for the NCWD election.

There were 17 voters that had turned out as of 11 a.m. according to an L.A. county representative at the polling place in the SCV Senior Center.

Only those who live in the NCWD’s service areas — which includes Newhall, Castaic and portions of Saugus and Canyon Country — were able to vote in the election.

Currently, the NCWD services approximately 44,000 people throughout the Santa Clarita Valley, according the their website.
