Almost 75 people gathered in the Vincenzo’s Pizza on Lyons Avenue to hear De León speak as part of multiple stops throughout the Southland.

“Throughout my entire career I have been fighting for all of California,” said De León. “We need to show the current establishment it is time for a change.”

The State Senator came to Newhall after campaigning in the high desert community of Lancaster, said campaign officials.

“We are here to ‘resist’ the Trump administration’s policies and show them what real California values are,” said De León.

He focused his message on the environment and economy, saying he believed they were the most important issues affecting the state.

“California is the sixth largest economy in the world,” said the senator. “We need to focus on jobs and the industries that are the leaders in this state.”

De León also discussed the dangers of offshore drilling and his goals establish a California drilling ban similar to the one implemented in Florida.

Although the event, organized by local Democratic and Progressive groups, was mostly in support of the Senate Pro Tem, one individual came to voice his dissenting opinion.

The person was escorted out by campaign staff after residents complained of the person’s language and tone, saying “there are children here, how dare you?”

The event came to a close with a meet and greet with the event attendees while the senator enjoyed pizza from Vincenzo’s.

“Some people only focus on the big cities like L.A. and San Francisco,” said De León. “I want to go to as many communities as I can, just like the great city of Santa Clarita.”

  1. No offshore drilling. What a luddite.
Anti-establishment? Another cookie-cutter leftist resistance Democrat, in a state completely ruled by Democrats is nothing but the mirror image of the leftist Democrat he wishes to replace: Dianne Feinstein. De León wins, California loses.

  2. what a joke! He covered Tony Mendoza sexual misconduct with an intern in Sacramento and asked Mendoza to step down after everything came out to the public.
You are a liar and a corrupt like all the demoRATS in Sacramento. GO AWAY!!!!

  3. How are you exactly fighting for CALI when you voted pro gas tax increase?????!!!!
    explain that one !
Gas Tax is another fraudulent way of collecting more money for the pensions in CALI and you know it!
