Knight’s staff will be at SCVi Charter School in Castaic from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening. They will meet with constituents one-on-one to discuss any state-related matter.
Knight’s office established the Mobile Office Hours program a few months ago, and this will be their third since the beginning of the year.
The previous two were well received, Knight said.
“The response has been good. People are happy that we have expanded hours,” Knight said. “Sometimes people work from 9 to 5 or 8 to 6, so they just can’t get to the office.”
Knight attended the first two Mobile Office Hours, but he said that other commitments will prevent him from being at Wednesday’s event.
He will be in Castaic on Friday, though, to visit Lynda Ashley’s third grade classroom at Castaic Elementary School.
“I try and visit schools as much as I can,” he said. “This school is going to be my 59th school while I’ve been in the legislature, and it will be my 119th classroom…”
He has visited about 15 schools in the SCV during that time, he said.
Knight tries to make each classroom presentation age appropriate.
For third graders, he typically explains the basics of state legislature, including the Assembly and the Senate, and asks the class to think of a law and vote on it, he said.
Knight will be at Castaic Elementary school from 8 to 9:30 a.m.
