Wilk Bill To Honor Veteran Service At Parks Passes Committee

A bill authored by Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, to recognize the serivce of the nation’s veterans at state parks passed committee unanimously Tuesday.

AB 240 would allow recipients of special recognition military license plates free entrance to all California State Parks.

“This bill is a small way to honor our military heroes who have answered the call to protect our country’s freedom and liberties and will forever thank them by allowing complimentary entry to our state’s incredible park system,” Wilk said. “It’s an honorable way to thank them for their service and sacrifice.”

The bill passed unanimously out of the Assembly Veteran Affairs Committee on Tuesday afternoon.

AB 240 will allow recipients of Purple Heart, Pearl Harbor Survivor, Ex-Prisoner of War, Congressional Medal of Honor, Gold Star Family, and Legion of Valor license plates free entrance to all California State Parks every day.

Next, AB 240 will be heard in the Assembly Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee.

The 38th Assembly District encompasses Simi Valley, the northwestern section of the San Fernando Valley and most of the Santa Clarita Valley.
